On November 1, a new exhibit highlighting the Muslim World’s cultural legacy opened to visitors at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET). More than 12,000 works of Islamic art are now circulating through the 15 New Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, and Later South Asia. Over 1,200 are on display at any one time. The works represent a 300 year time span and reflect the distinct cultures within the region. Join an exclusive live webchat on November 29 at 7:30 EST with museum curators to discuss the MET’s greatly enlarged collection of Islamic art—one of the finest and most comprehensive collections in the world.
